Decks of cards were handed out to college students at college fairs. Cards contained bits of advice on ways to save and spend money wisely in college.
Some examples of copy on the cards:
-Take a date to the museum. Most are free or have discount admission with student ID. Lots of strolling and hand holding, but don’t compare your date to a Picasso. Just a tip.
-Try a local flea market. Someone’s trash is your treasure or at least your kitchen table.
-Go online for coupons for everything from shoes to shiitake mushrooms. Print them out or use them online.
-Beware of the multiple credit card syndrome (it normally affects young shopaholics). The cards may fit your wallet perfectly and come in cool designs, but they aren’t playing cards. Having many can lead to serious debt.
-Calculus books are so hot right now. Sell your used books from last semester for a few dollars less than the school store, and watch the freshmen line up outside your door.
-We know you love your double espresso-latte-skim milk-hazelnut blend-hold the whip please, but sometimes a nice cup of home-brewed coffee in the morning gives you all you need and saves a lot.
-That book you’re using as a coaster is actually a planner. So pick up the planner and use it for something good, like scheduling loan payments.
-Go bank hunting (no camouflage needed). Search for the best interest rate out there. Why not make some money with a great interest rate?
